What is Mental Health First Aid?

“Mental Health First Aid is the help you give to someone developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis.”

Mental Health First Aid is the first aid you give until a person has received professional treatment or the mental health crisis is resolved.

Mental Health First Aid differs from a Self-Care Toolkit, although some items on your self-care list can also avert a mental health crisis. Both kits come into play when evaluating Trauma-Informed Practices for Creative Professionals.
