PAM CUT – 934 SW Salmon St., Portland, OR
Ages 18+
Cost: $60.00
Join Certified Consent-Forward Artist and Filmmaker Windy Borman, MS at the Portland Art Museum (PAM CUT) as she guides participants through a look at what it means to create storytelling in a consent-forward environment.
Six years into the #MeToo Movement, discrimination, harassment, violence, coercion, and abuse still occur in arts and entertainment. The missing piece is a reckoning about consent: what it is, how to request and give it, and how to foster a consent-forward environment.
Assumptions about consent, boundaries, and abilities can lead to workplace harm, injuries, complaints, or lawsuits. However, if we begin from a place of consent, we decrease liability while increasing safety and creativity, which leads to producing better content.
In this 2-hour long workshop, creative professionals will learn how to design consent-forward environments regardless of their artistic medium and role on a call sheet.
Through movement, group exercises, discussion, and reflection, participants will learn:
- The 5 Elements of Consent
- Why boundaries are necessary for consent, creativity, and trust
- How power dynamics effect consent
- How to lead and participate in a Boundaries Check-In
- The 5 Pillars of Intimacy in Creative Production
- When and how to work with an Intimacy Professional or Consultant
- Exercises to foster consent-forward creativity in your own projects.
Whether you work in film, theater, photography, radio/podcasting, performance art, or fine art—whether you create narrative, non-fiction, or branded content—you will leave with specific tools to build consent and trust into your creative endeavors!
